Red carries

Looks like the AOL members are rather conservative:

No wonder, if you take a peek at the comments. Apparently, “Islamisation” is an even bigger “concern” than in Europe:

“Why isn’t the American press telling us that Obama is supported by every Muslim organization in the world?”

Even more ridiculous are the comments trying to defame Obama as the “red” candidate – despite the Democratic Party’s colour being blue – it’s quite McCarthy-ish, really:

“The party’s Chicago chapter also included a large contingent from the Committees of Correspondence, a Marxist coalition of former Maoists, Trotskyists, and Communist Party USA members.”

Obama a Marxist? Then he’d be an even less stable political personality than Mao, and that’s saying something. After all, we’re talking about the US here, even the most convinced “left-wing” Democrat is less leftist than most German politicians regardless of their creed.

Why be surprised? Obama is of “African-American descent” (Am I the only one to think that this term is ridiculously inappropriate for native-born citizens? Though it might not be too far off in the candidate’s case), wasn’t born in the heartland of the US and spent his childhood abroad, exercises great crowd control, and isn’t quite as bible-thumping as Palin depite being a devout Christian, obviously there will be a number of uninquisitive minds accepting that Obama might be as black (excuse the lame pun) as he’s painted.

Of course the citizens of every democratic state are free to elect their own leaders – but sometimes the US  manages to look friggin’ stupid in the process.
